After exceptionally good conditions in Tokachidake the weather started to come in again. More snow was forecasted all over Hokkaido and we decided to head to Niseko area after checking out Asahidake first. The alpine terrain was out of the question when the approaching fronts would start covering the mountains with new white gold.

Couloir exploration

After riding into a Volcano twice and then bathing in the volcanic onsen yesterday we woke up to another perfect weather day. Our plan was to explore these couloirs or gullies that looked really nice from far. We didn’t really know how they would turn out when closet but the only way was to go out and see.
It turned out to be one of the best days of the season! You don’t get to ride couloirs ...

After a long travel in to the unknown and just hoping for the best we woke up in the morning to perfect weather and great looking vulcanic mountains. We didn’t have a clue where to go so we just decided to explore and hike up. The view from the top is always better…
It ended up to be a awesome day and very unique experience.

Going to Hokkaido

14 Jan Protest World Rookie Fest Livigno
From the 14th till the 18th of January this event will take place. The Mottolino Snowpark in Livigno, Italy is a great impressive snowpark with medium, large and extra large slopestyle lines. Over a hundred rookies will compete at this event to show the snowboard industry what they’re worth.
03 Feb Protest French Fries Rookie Fest
From the 3rd till the 5th of February this event will take place. It’s the first time that a 3* TTR Rookie Fest hits the park of Avoriaz, France. Last years edition was a 2* TTR edition so for all riders it’s a big surprise what this event will bring this year.

Snowfest is a combination of snowboard & freeski, lifestyle and party. Part of the event are the Dutch Snowboard and Freeski championships.
11 Apr Protest World Rookie Finals
From the 11th till the 15th of April this event will take place. This 4* TTR slopestyle event is the most important for all riders. Here the best rookie takes the crown to call himself World Rookie Champion for 1 year. The snowpark of Ischgl Austria will come up with some sick slopestyle lines.
