Waking up in the mountains

February 15, 2012

Snowtour by: Miikka Hast

After a really cold night in the mountains, below -20, the sun started to light and warm up the scenery. We were really warm in the buried hut but had no idea of the time since it was pitch black inside. It was quite the view to wake up to!

We had breakfast and enjoyed the mellow morning up there. It makes a difference to the morning hassle to wake up already in mid mountain!

We started hiking up in perfect weather. Sun felt really good and warm all the way to the top but there it was a different story again. “It’s always windy at the top” is not a phrase for nothing. We also discovered that the snow started to be really wind blown in all aspects. We have had still high hopes for great pow but it seems to be blown away now. We had to “seddle” for nice cruising in ok snow, perfect weather and great scenery…hehheh. All together it was a weekend to remember with many surprises. Thank you Rudy Hauser for showing us around and inviting us to the amazing hut!
