Difference between gloves and mittens

Is there a difference between gloves and mittens when skiing or snowboarding? Absolutely! You might have already noticed that mittens are more popular among snowboarders than skiers. This is mainly due to the fact that most skiers use ski poles, and it’s easier to hold ski poles when you’re wearing gloves – although it’s certainly not impossible to ski when wearing mittens. One advantage of mittens over gloves is that four out of five fingers are in one compartment. This means that body heat emitted by your hand stays in this one compartment, keeping your hands warmer. So ski mittens or snowboard mittens are ideal for people who tend to suffer from cold hands!

Waterproof ski gloves for women

When you’re out in the snow it’s super important that the gloves or mittens are waterproof. If your hands get wet (and therefore cold), skiing and snowboarding quickly become a lot less fun, which of course is a great shame! That’s why we’ve treated all of our women’s gloves and mittens with a water-resistant coating, which means that melting snow is less likely to leak through. All our ski gloves and mittens also have an inner glove with Climashield™ insulation, which keeps your hands dry and warm in the most extreme conditions.

Warm ski gloves for women

The inner glove isn’t the only feature of our gloves and mittens that provides extra warmth. All our women’s gloves and mittens are also lined with Bemberg™ fabric. Bemberg is the brand name for cupro, a breathable fibre with micro pores that quickly absorbs moisture and has good wicking properties. As a result, perspiration doesn’t even get a chance to moisten the gloves or mittens, which would otherwise make your hands cold when the chilly wind blows against them. Bemberg™ fabric is also wonderfully soft and is therefore incredibly comfortable to wear.

Other useful features

But that’s not all! All our women’s gloves and mittens also have a soft piece of fabric on the thumb, which you can use to wipe your nose without it becoming chapped. All our ski gloves and snowboard gloves (and some mittens) also have a Velcro fastening around the wrist. This Velcro fastening can be tightened or loosened as desired and ensures that no snow gets into your glove when you fall, for example. All our ski mittens and snowboard mittens have an elastic fastening with exactly the same function.

Choosing the right size

The size of a glove or mitten is determined by the distance between the tip of your middle finger and the beginning of your wrist. You can easily measure this distance yourself using a tape measure. You can then check our size chart for gloves and mittens to find out which size you need to order: S, M, L or XL.
