ACTIVE ADAPTIVE
Active Adaptive vzw is a young non-profit organization based in Belgium, founded on 13 May 2024 by Kyra Visserand Nathalie Bergez. Their mission is clear: everyone should have the opportunity to be active and take part in sport – including those living with a disability.
At Active Adaptive, everyone who needs extra support to take part in sport is welcome – whether that’s due to a physical, intellectual or visual disability, autism, or another form of additional support. The organization makes sure that everyone can participate in sport and physical activity in a way that is accessible, safe and enjoyable, always tailored to everyone’s abilities. One of their main focus areas is adaptive snow sports, such as skiing or snowboarding with professional guidance and specially adapted equipment. Active Adaptive always focuses on what is possible and adjusts where needed – so that no one is left on the sidelines.
Beyond their own programmes, Active Adaptive also works towards creating a more inclusive sports environment. They support sports clubs, schools and community groups to make their activities more accessible. Their goal is to ensure that sport is open to everyone – with or without a disability. Sport brings people together, and through shared experiences in movement, understanding, connection and equality naturally grow.
