SKI GOGGLES: HOW THEY WORK

Why ski goggles are essential for your winter sports trip

Ski goggles are much more than a stylish accessory on the slopes. While skiing or snowboarding, your eyes are exposed to intense sunlight, reflected glare from the snow, strong wind, cold temperatures and flying snow. Without proper protection, your eyes can quickly become tired and your vision less sharp. In the worst case, prolonged exposure can even cause eye damage. With high quality ski goggles, your eyes are well protected, and you can enjoy every run without worry. That is why we have added our own ski goggle model to our winter sports collection.

Protection against light, UV and weather conditions

In the mountains, the sun is significantly stronger than in the valley. Sunlight reflecting off the snow can be harmful to your eyes without proper eye protection. A good pair of ski goggles provides full UV protection and prevents glare. The Optimal Visual Perception lens (S3) used in our ski goggles delivers a crystal clear, unobstructed view and offers 100 percent UVA, UVB and UVC 400 protection.

Thanks to the frameless design with a Toric lens, you benefit from an extra wide field of vision and improved depth perception. This allows you to spot bumps, icy patches and changes in elevation sooner, which makes skiing safer and more enjoyable. In addition, ski goggles protect your eyes from wind, cold and flying snow, even at high speeds or in bad weather. Because let’s be honest, nothing ruins a run faster than watery eyes or poor visibility.

Sharp vision in all weather conditions

Weather conditions in the mountains can change quickly. Fog, snowfall or overcast skies require optimal visibility. That is why Protest Sportswear ski goggles come with an additional interchangeable bad weather lens (S1 with 69% light transmission). This lens enhances contrast and makes depth differences more visible. As a result, you can spot bumps, icy sections and uneven terrain faster, giving you more control and safety on the slopes. Thanks to advanced dual layer lens technology with an anti-fog coating, your lens stays clear and does not fog up, no matter how intense your day gets.

Ski goggles with interchangeable lenses

Thanks to the ten small magnets in the frame and lens, switching lenses is quick and easy, so you always have the right protection and the best possible view. But what do those percentages actually mean? The men’s goggles feature a black S3 good weather lens with 10 percent light transmission, while the women’s goggles have a grey mirrored lens with 13 percent light transmission. This means they allow only 10% and 13% of sunlight through, offering excellent protection in bright conditions. The bad weather lens is yellow and lets through 69% of the light, providing optimal contrast and visibility during cloudy, snowy or grey days on the slopes.

You can change the lens in just a moment. Gently push your thumb against the top corners of the frame and carefully pull the lens loose. Then place the other lens into the frame. The strong magnets will immediately snap the lens securely into place.

More comfort and better performance. Stylish and safe on the slopes

A well fitting pair of ski goggles feels comfortable on your face and fits perfectly with your ski helmet. This prevents pressure points and stops cold air from reaching your eyes. When your vision is clear and your eyes stay relaxed, you ski or snowboard with more confidence and enjoyment. Our ski goggles are also OTG compatible, meaning they are large enough to be worn over prescription glasses. This allows you to fully focus on your technique, speed and surroundings. Of course, style also matters. That is why the goggles are available in two basic colours that match any outfit.

In short, good ski goggles are not a luxury but an essential part of your winter sports gear. Protect your eyes, improve your visibility and get the most out of every day on the slopes.

Take good care of your ski goggles

To get the best performance and extend the lifespan of your ski goggles, proper care is essential. Below you will find practical tips for maintenance, safe use and storage.

Fogging and cleaning

  • To prevent fogging, always wear your ski goggles on your face and not on your forehead or helmet. If it is snowing, moisture on your helmet can easily run into the goggles.
  • When the inside of the lens gets wet, the material becomes soft and very sensitive to scratches. Do not rub it. Let the lens air dry or gently dab away excess moisture with a soft cloth. Do not use paper products, ski gloves or other rough materials. If your lens does fog up, place it in an inside pocket so it can dry using your body heat.
  • Clean the inside and outside of the lens preferably only with tap water. Rinse gently and follow the instructions above.
  • Never place the goggles with the lens facing down to avoid scratches. Use a protective pouch whenever possible. If the lens is damaged, cracked or scratched, replace it immediately, as optimal protection can no longer be guaranteed.

Storage

  • Store your ski goggles in a warm, dry place, away from direct sunlight and heat.
  • Always use the included hard case or micro pouch to prevent scratches.

Use and safety

  • Our ski goggles are designed for skiing and snowboarding. They do not provide protection against hard objects or impacts.
  • Not suitable for driving or use on public roads.

Do not use the goggles to look directly at the sun and they do not protect against artificial light sources such as tanning beds

Recycling

If you no longer use your Protest ski goggles and they are still in good condition, consider giving them a second life. Pass them on to a friend, family member or someone else who could make good use of them.
