Is there a difference between snowboards trousers and ski trousers?
Nowadays there's no real difference between snowboard trousers and ski trousers. In the past, when snowboarding was still a new sport, there was certainly a difference between the two. The first snowboarders adjusted the trousers that were available at the time so that they were more suitable for snowboarding. They added more fabric around the bum, for example. But thanks to technological developments, particularly in fabric, this is no longer necessary. So you can wear a pair of Protest snowboard trousers to go snowboarding and skiing. Super versatile!
What types of snowboard trousers are there?
There two main features that characterize the snowboard trousers in our men's collection. Firstly, there's the fabric – you'll find both normal and softshell snowboard trousers in our collection. Softshell snowboard trousers are waterproof, windproof, breathable, and insulating. Normal snowboard trousers, also called hardshell, don't have that insulating feature but are still nice and warm! And secondly, there's the fit – we have both slim fit and normal fit models in our range. You might think that a slim fit isn’t all that suitable for boarders who spend most of their time off-piste on in snow parks. But you'd be wrong! In many cases, the stretch fabric used to make the trousers really compensates for the difference in fit.
The advantages of Protest snowboard trousers
Every pair of men's snowboard trousers in our collection has its own characteristics, and this is reflected in the price difference between the various models. We have basic models, which have all the properties the average boarder needs – from waterproofing and breathability to taped seams. The more expensive models feature additional specs, such as stretch fabric and ventilation zips. No matter what type of snowboarder you are, Protest has the perfect pair of snowboard trousers for you!
Choosing the right size
Snowboarders come in all shapes and sizes, and so do our snowboard trousers. You can shop online for stylish snow clothes in size XS/34 to XXXL/44. In general, you should buy snowboard trousers in the same size as you would normal trousers or jeans. In other words, you don't have to buy a larger size to accommodate thermal pants; we took this into account when designing our snowboard trousers. If you're not sure which size to choose, use our size chart or contact us by chat or e-mail.
Snowboard trousers SALE
At the end of each winter season, all of our men's snowboard trousers go on sale. The sale doesn't include items from the new collection, but you can find trousers from previous collections for a great price. This is perfect for first-time snowboarders who don't want to spend a ton of money on a new snowboard outfit before they know whether the sport is for them. It's also great for experienced boarders looking for an affordable pair of snowboard trousers!
