Choosing the right ski trousers can be tricky. To help you find the perfect pair, we've written a handy guide called 'How to choose the right ski trousers or snowboard trousers', which explains what to look for when choosing ski trousers. This includes properties like waterproofing and breathability.

What to wear under ski trousers

Another frequently asked question is what to wear under ski trousers, which is also answered in our guide. When it comes to ski trousers, there are two options: with thermal pants and without thermal pants. Thermal pants have two important properties: they absorb sweat and trap heat. Because of this, thermal pants tend to be reserved for especially cold conditions. Given that you can never really know how cold it will get, we recommend taking one or more pairs with you on holiday.

Soft shell ski trousers

Soft shell ski trousers have become more popular in recent years, and we understand why. The soft shell fabric is made up of three layers for optimum comfort. The inner layer is brushed, making the trousers extremely comfortable, and the middle and outer layers are insulated and breathable. This makes soft shell ski trousers comfortable, windproof, and waterproof. The elastic properties of the soft shell fabric provide the perfect amount of stretch. Win-win!

Ski trousers in different colours

Our ski trousers are available online in a wide range of colours. We also carry classic colours, such as black, white, and grey. These basic colours make it easy to mix and match your ski trousers with your favourite ski jacket. If your jacket has a bright colour or a bold print, ski trousers in a basic colour can create a more subdued whole. An eye-catching ski outfit has yet another advantage: it makes it easier to spot your friends when you hit the slopes in a big group. You could opt for a unique beanie or bag or a brightly coloured pair of ski trousers in orange, red, or pink. If you want to go all out on the slopes, choose ski trousers in a bold print, like panther print!

Ski trousers with suspenders

Ski trousers tend to sit higher on the waist than the average pair of jeans. Special ski suspenders help to prevent your trousers from sagging off and prevent the cuffs from dragging in the snow. You can easily attach and remove these suspenders as needed. Each winter season, we carry suspenders in prints that match those of our ski trousers, so you can make a fashion statement both on and off the slopes! If you're not a fan of suspenders but you do want to prevent your trousers from sagging, a belt is an excellent alternative. Our belts are also available in the same prints as our ski clothing!

Different fits

Our women's ski trousers come in two fits: regular and slim. Our regular-fit ski trousers are not too loose and not too tight. Regular-fit ski trousers are perfect for skiers of all types, from leisurely descenders to speedy daredevils looking to push their limits. Slim-fit ski trousers have a skinny or tailored fit. They are less suitable for freestyle skiers, as they simply offer less range of motion than regular-fit trousers. The tailored fit of slim-fit trousers does add a stylish touch to your ski outfit.

Different styles

Women's ski trousers come in a wide range of different colours, fits, and styles. The most unique style is the salopette, a fancy word for ski trousers with a bib and suspenders. This style has two unique features. First, it has integrated suspenders, which means you never have to worry about your trousers sagging off. Second, these 'skiing overalls' have a higher rise at the back compared to the average ski trousers, which helps to keep the snow out if you take a tumble. Another interesting style is the high-waisted ski trousers, which are as stylish as they are comfortable.

Choosing the right size

Skiers come in all shapes and sizes and so do our ski trousers. You can shop online for stylish snow clothes in size XS/34 to XXL/44. In general, you should buy ski trousers in the same size as you would normal trousers or jeans. In other words, you don't have to buy a larger size to accommodate thermal pants. We took this into account when designing our ski trousers. If you're not sure which size to choose, use our size chart or contact us by chat or e-mail.

Ski trousers as winter walking trousers

Did you know your ski trousers double as the perfect pair of winter walking trousers? When it's cold or snowing outside, ski trousers make for the perfect outdoor trousers. You'll have all the same advantages of ski trousers off the slopes!

Ski trouser SALE

At the end of each winter season, all of our women's ski trousers go on sale. The sale doesn't include items from the new collection, but you can find trousers from previous collections for a great price. This is perfect for first-time skiers who don't want to spend a ton of money on a new ski outfit before they know whether the sport is for them. It's also great for experienced skiers looking for an affordable pair of ski trousers!

Add the finishing touch to your ski outfit

You'll need more than a pair of ski trousers if you plan to hit the slopes. Put together your own Protest ski outfit with a matching ski jacket, a few mid layers, fleeces and some new thermal trousers and thermal tops. Add the finishing touch with matching gloves or mittens, beanies, suspenders, and warm ski socks. Prefer a one-piece look? Go for a snowsuit instead!
